Who we are
Peerclave is one of several tools built by Strata Collective, a group of practising clinicians, academics, and engineers working on the parts of medical research that have become slow or inconsistent.
What we are trying to do
Medical research runs on a set of processes that were designed for a smaller literature: peer review, critical appraisal, evidence synthesis, and the editorial work that holds them together. As submission volumes have risen, those processes have not scaled with them. Reviews take longer, appraisal is applied unevenly, and expert time is spread thinner every year.
Strata Collective builds practical tools for the people doing that work: editors, reviewers, and researchers. Each tool addresses one specific bottleneck, is built with clinicians involved at every stage, and is designed to fit the way research is already done rather than to replace it.
Where Peerclave fits
Peerclave is the part of that work concerned with finding reviewers and getting reviews back on time. It gives a journal a standing panel of subspecialty reviewers who have applied to work with it, are paid a fixed fee per manuscript, and accept a deadline before they begin. It does not change what a review contains or who makes the editorial decision.
